It is now Easter Monday. Yesterday was a glorious day. Christ is risen. We have reason for hope, we have reason to be on the lookout for new life. Even in the wake of the news of 2 shootings in Louisville, KY we have reason to hope. We know that a world filled with hatred and shooting and violence is not as God desires. Now we need to work to change the narrative.
In Matthew’s gospel the guards who are standing guard are scared to death when the angel arrives. The earthly power sent by the Empire will not prevail. God will prevail. Last week as we saw two young black representatives get expelled from the Tennessee House, we see the Empire fighting back. The Empire will always fight to keep the status quo because it keeps them in power. Keep raising your voice. Keep on! The more people become fed up with senseless death, the more work that keeps happening, the more we begin to shift the narrative.
Christ is risen! There is reason to hope. There is reason to demand better from ourselves and from our leaders.
