Faith in the Cracks – Allowing God to seep into the cracks in our lives.

In the movie “The Princess Bride” Inigo is distraught and things have fallen apart. As the wedding for Buttercup and the Prince draws closer, the Brute squad is clearing out a forest. With technology we reboot computers and phones, we go back to the beginning. In the Gospel of John, the resurrection stories show disciples going back to the places where life made sense before Jesus died. Diana Butler Bass pointed this out in a post she made on Holy Thursday, that the disciples went back to the house, she connects this with the house where they had met in an upper room for a meal with Jesus.

Later in the Gospel of John, we find the disciples out fishing. They went back to where they were when Jesus called them to follow. They returned to fishing, and that is where Jesus appeared and they had breakfast on the beach.

I wonder when God shows up for you? Have you ever needed to go back to the beginning and try again? Have you ever found that in going back, you find God was in the midst all the time? Maybe sometimes, we all just need a do over.
