Faith in the Cracks – Allowing God to seep into the cracks in our lives.

In the 2002 movie Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie, as Jonah is in the belly of the whale, the prophet laments that he disobeyed God, and what follows is a catchy gospel number that God is a God of second chances.

Praise the Lord, He’s the God of Second Chances.
You’ll be floored how His love your life enhances.
You can be restored from your darkest circumstances.
Our God is a God of second chances.

But second chances are not only in the Bible. I was at a concert by The East Hill Singers. This men’s choir is made up of inmates from the minimum security unit at the Lansing Correctional Facility and volunteers from the Kansas City metro area. It is part of the Arts in Prison program. This program offers inmates creative outlets through not only The East Hill Singers, but through visual arts, drama, written and spoken word and other various educational offerings.

In introducing pieces, inmates shared not only about the music, but about the impact being in the choir has had on their lives. Music has been truly transformational and these men have found a God that is the God of second chances. A great reminder that God loves each and every one of us and we cannot escape that love. God forgives.
